About the University SPbU

The University is proud of its alumni: among them are 9 Nobel Prize winners, 2 presidents of the Russian Federation and 6 government leaders. Each year, more than 3000 international students from 100 countries enroll in SPbU. According to Rossotrudnichestvo, in 2019, SPbU became the most popular university in Russia among foreign applicants.

The University is developing partner programmes with 450 universities from 60 countries, where SPbU students can go on exchange.

Students also get the opportunity to take on internships in 2000 leading international companies including IBM, Unilever, PepsiCo, McKinsey, Google and others that the University has partnership agreements with.

The research possibilities at SPbU are limitless. Everyone is welcome to make use of the state-of-the-art facilities in 26 resource centres of the SPbU Research Park.

A place in student dormitories is guaranteed to every student coming from another city/country. Getting the RF state-funded place provides a student with tuition fee coverage and a monthly scholarship. There are also opportunities to participate in contests for additional scholarships or receive a grant for launching your own business project through Start-Up SPbU.

Directions and forms of study in SPbU

The University offers more than 400 full degree programmes of the Bachelor, Specialist, Master and PhD levels as well as over 800 additional non-degree courses. SPbU is a classical university that successfully combines 300-year educational traditions and latest scientific innovations. Therefore, the study programmes cover all fields of knowledge, including Physics and Mathematics, Computer and Information Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities, Earth Sciences as well as creative and medical disciplines. Due to the fundamental theoretical preparation and an active involvement of business and industry leaders in the study process, SPbU graduates are fully prepared for the contemporary demands of the job market.

Apart from the study programmes taught in Russian, applicants have an opportunity to choose from 20 Master degree programmes offered in English, German, Spanish, French and Italian. 10 SPbU programmes follow the double-diploma track meaning that their graduates receive both a diploma from St Petersburg University and a partner university abroad (Sorbonne University in France, Free University of Berlin in Germany, University of Bologna in Italy, University of Southern California in the US, University of Tampere in Finland, Beijing International Studies University in China and others).
